5 Reasons Blogging is Crucial to Your Business
I’ve been blogging on and off since roughly around 2007, but over the past 2 years I have discovered just how important blogging CAN be for any business. It’s amazing how it falls right there along side using the social networks as well. With the internet being as vast as it is, every business owner MUST find ways to get their business out there and in front of people. And blogging is one of those ways.
Here are MY 5 Reasons for blogging for your business
- Builds Relationships ~ Whether you include personal things in your business blog or not, readers get to know you and as they read more of your posts and keep coming back to your blog, this in turn builds trust.
- Expands Your Reach ~ If readers like what you posted, can relate to it somehow, or feel emotional attached to your subject matter, they WILL share it! (Do you have social sharing buttons on your blog? If not, I suggest you install them. Stay tuned for my post about social sharing later this week. Better yet, use that “Subscribe” box over there on the top right and you won’t miss a post ever!)
- Grow Your List ~ One of your biggest goals is to build your mailing list. The more subscribers you have, the more chance you have of your readers to buy something from you. This is why a newsletter is so important … I better get on that! LOL
- Shows Expertise ~ Sharing with your readers what you know and what you can do helps show you are an expert in your niche. What’s your niche? What do you do? Share it, teach it … but get it out there.
- Establishes Credibility ~ With this comes the trust and loyalty you build with your expertise and customer relationships. (These would be my #1 and #4 reasons.)
Hmmm .. funny how most of these same reasons hold true for having a social media presence such as a Facebook Page, a Google+ Page, or a Twitter account. But I’ll save that for another post
What are your best reasons to blog? If you don’t blog yet, I’d like to hear why. Have any questions about blogging for your business? Use the comment box below! I will answer them for you!

I blog!
And for the same reasons you’ve mentioned here. I love that blogging is a flexible way (I can write whatever time it fits into my schedule) for me to share what I know and get myself out there in front of those I can help.

Michelle, I feel the same way — “getting out there in front of those I can help.” It’s funny, when I got back into blogging and started Gypsy’s Treasures, I was just there to essentially blog. Now, I have this plan … I know quite a few business owners out there that just don’t get blogging, haven’t thought of using blogs, or don’t see how it can actually help their business. And some of these people I have heard/read complain how they don’t get why their website (usually static or ecomm in nature) isn’t getting enough traffic or aren’t generating enough sales. So here I am, being inspired by my favorite blogging, homeschooling, multiple business running, and teaching MOM — I cannot tell you in words how much I appreciate you, Michelle, and how grateful I am for finding you back in the “SMB” days

I’ve started my blog to engage would be clients — I stay busy with VA work but what I really, REALLY love is the graphics projects. I’d be in heaven one day if I was doing nothing but blogging graphics, websites for Moms and virtual product graphics. I’d like to have an audience that I could offer sales too for these items when I do have lulls in my VA work.
I’m excited about my blog and am loving hopping around reading other WAHM blogs. Being a WAHM can be lonely but, there is a great sense of community with other working, blogging Moms.

OMG, Melissa, you hit it right on the head of a nail — about it being lonely sometimes! I totally have that issue. Especially when I have few friends and family to talk about it outside the “internet world” … they either don’t understand or aren’t interested in hearing about it .. just so I keep my antennae tuned to their conversations, all is well in the world LOL I haven’t quite figured out how to get others to be as excited about it as I am but I do have my cheerleaders and I guess that is what matters!
Thanks for sharing, Melissa! I am so glad you are blogging
